Writing
Although I have written my entire life, I am just beginning to take the act of writing and my results more seriously. What prompted this? I read a number of interviews and books about writing by published authors. Every single one of them had the same piece of advice: Write regularly. Create a schedule. Show up at the appointed time and stay – even if it's just you and the empty page. This plan seemed simple, too simple. So simple I could do it. And I did. That's how I wrote my first play: Pronouncing Glenn. I made a date to meet with my desk three mornings a week. It worked out that my mechanical pencil was raring to go, even though my daughter has now successfully convinced me to use a laptop.
I have begun my second play and continue to write essays – particularly quirky observational pieces that I plan to either use in a regular column or combine into a book. Writing and performing my stand-up routines is another way I share my passion for comedy.
