IN MUSING WINS FIRST PLACE
Vasta Folley Honored with 1st Place Win
The National Society of Newspaper Columnists (NSNC) recently announced the winners of their NSNC 2025 Annual Awards Columnist Contest.
Carole Vasta Folley’s IN MUSING column was selected as the first place winner in their Lifestyles Category. Second place was awarded to Neil Steinberg of the Chicago Sun Times and third place awarded to Richard Sima of The Washington Post.
“The NSNC column contest isn’t just good — it’s the gold standard in our field. If you care about great writing, this is where excellence lives,” said Meredith Cummings, president of the NSNC.
NCNS, which advocates for columnists and free-press issues, receives entries in eight categories, including General Interest Print, General Interest Online, Humor Print, Humor Online, Sports, Social Justice, Lifestyles, and Crisis Commentary. Award-winning journalists from across the country serve as judges.
“We were overwhelmed by the quality and depth of the work that was submitted from some of the top columnists and writers in the industry,” said Joanne Brokaw, the award contest director.
